The Urantia Book Made Easy
　
　
The Urantia Book is the most important book of all time in my opinion. It doesn’t replace The Bible but explains it. The Urantia Book is about God, the Universe of Universes, some of the history of our planet, and Jesus. It was written by different orders of celestials (folks who don’t come from Earth) and an interesting group of beings called midwayers. (More about them later.)
I realize it takes a leap of faith to believe that celestials and midwayers wrote this remarkable book. I can just imagine them planning this new revelation of God to our world. "Look what they did to the prophets-- let alone Jesus! I know. Let’s write a book. That way nobody gets hurt."
In 1991, a devout believer in the papers, Kristen Maaherra, was sued for copyright violation. She had circulated computer disk copies of The Urantia Book when the Foundation, the publisher of The Urantia Book, ceased distribution for a spell. The suit resulted in the denial of the copyright by the United States Courts because the Foundation had falsified facts in its application for copyright renewal. They could not establish that the renewal would protect the commercial rights of any identifiable human.
Note: The celestials say that they used human sources for their writing except when the human writings were inadequate. "Inadequate" is my word. You should know of Martin Gardner’s book Urantia: the great cult mystery which accuses The Urantia Book of plagiarism. However, a Urantia Book reader, whose name I’ve forgotten, is writing a book on the human sources of The Urantia Book.
Also, some of the science presented in The Urantia Book is inaccurate. As the book says, "Any cosmology presented as a part of revealed religion is destined to be outgrown in a very short time. . . within a few short years many of our statements regarding the physical sciences will stand in need of revision in consequence of additional scientific developments and new discoveries."

The Urantia Book was first published in 1955 tho’ the first contact by the celestials was in the early 1900s. You can get the book at many bookstores, libraries, or off the internet.
I am mainly writing this for my children. Unfortunately, I don’t trust them to simply read the book. It’s a very long book. It’s not easy to hold. A lot of it is difficult for me to understand so I didn‘t include anything that I didn‘t understand. (I also left out a whole lot of stuff.) It’s best to read it from beginning to end since one thing builds on another. A really excellent synopsis, paper by paper, is Michelle Klimesh’s book, The Story of Everything as Told in the Urantia Book.
I apologize for my mistakes and uneven writing style. Sometimes I interpreted. Sometimes I paraphrased. Sometimes I quoted. Sometimes I quoted but didn’t use quotation marks because I’m lazy. Most of the Jesus papers were basically lifted without quotes. The book itself is gracefully written.
So, my dears, here it is-- my take on The Urantia Book . Maybe once you read this you’ll be inspired to read the book itself. At least read the Jesus papers, and the papers on the Father, Son, and Spirit.
The philosophy of The Urantia Book in a nutshell:
The Fatherhood of God--The Brotherhood of Man-- Loving service to mankind
Another thing real quick:
"Urantia" is the name of our planet.
　
This Cruel, Cruel WorldOn page 51 is a good explanation of why we have to live in this cruel, cruel world (It’s also a good answer to atheists who don‘t believe in God because a good God wouldn‘t let bad things happen. I was once one of those):
"1. Is courage--strength of character--desirable? Then must man be reared in an environment which necessitates grappling with hardships and reacting to disappointments.
2. Is altruism--service of one’s fellows--desirable? Then must life experience provide for encountering situations of social inequality.
3 Is hope--the grandeur of trust--desirable? Then human existence must constantly be confronted with insecurities and recurrent uncertainties.
4. Is faith--the supreme assertion of human thought--desirable? Then must the mind of man find itself in that troublesome predicament where it ever knows less than it can believe.
5. Is the love of truth and the willingness to go wherever it leads, desirable? Then must man grow up in a world where error is present and falsehood always possible.
6. Is idealism--the approaching concept of the divine--desirable? Then must man struggle in an environment of relative goodness and beauty, surroundings simulative of the irrepressible reach for better things.
7. Is loyalty--devotion to highest duty--desirable? Then must man carry on amid the possibilities of betrayal and desertion. The valor of devotion to duty consists in the implied danger of default.
8. Is unselfishness--the spirit of self-forgetfulness--desirable? Then must mortal man live face to face with the incessant clamoring of an inescapable self for recognition and honor. Man could not dynamically choose the divine if there were no self-life to forsake. Man could never lay saving hold on righteousness if there were no potential evil to exalt and differentiate the good by contrast.
9. Is pleasure--the satisfaction of happiness--desirable? Then must man live in a world where the alternative of pain and the likelihood of suffering are ever-present experiential possibilities."

The Universe of Universes
I like to know where I am in time and space. (Don’t you?) At this time it’s November 21, 2008 at 12:12 pm. So, what about space?
At the center of infinity and everything is the Isle of Paradise. It is stationary. It is the source and substance of physical gravity. It’s like a big elliptical pancake. Now see if you can wrap your mind around this: "Paradise exists without time and has no location in space." (And you thought Paradise was the Garden of Eden. Well, I did.)
Most importantly Paradise is the dwelling place of:
1. God the Universal Father. A.k.a, among other titles throughout the universes, First Source and Universe Center. God the Father is love. God the Father bestows personality. At first I thought of personality in the terms of someone having a "good" personality or a "bad" personality, but now I think of it more in terms of "personhood-ness". The Father has given an actual fragment of himself to every moral, mortal being. This fragment dwells in our minds. It’s known as a Thought Adjuster (Sounds Orwellian doesn’t it? Like Big Brother.) or a Mystery Monitor.
2. God the Eternal Son. (Hold on to your hats! ) God the Eternal Son is not Jesus. More about Jesus later. Stay with me now. A.k.a., among other titles, Second Source and Universe Center. The Son, offspring of the Father, is the source of spiritual gravity which draws us spiritually inward to Paradise. The Son personifies mercy. Offspring of the Father and Son are known as sons of God whether they are male or female.
3. God the Infinite Spirit. A.k.a Third Source and Universe Center. The Father’s love and the Son’s mercy is reflected in their offspring, the Spirit’s ministry. He is the God of action. The Spirit bestows intellect/mind. Offspring of the Spirit are known as daughters of God.
Revolving around Paradise are the Sacred Spheres of Paradise. The innermost circuit has seven "secret spheres of the Father". The second circuit has seven "luminous worlds of the Son". The outermost circuit contains the seven "immense spheres of the Spirit".
Also revolving around the Isle of Paradise is Havona. There are seven circuits of Havona comprised of one billion worlds. One day of Havona time equals about one thousand years Urantia time. Havona is enshrouded by a belt of dark physical bodies that neither absorbs nor reflects light. Therefore, Havona and Paradise are hidden. Havona is the home of perfect and perfected beings. Havona natives are the offspring of the Father, Son, and Spirit. There are real rivers and lakes on Havona. There is no government since Havona is perfect, but each world is administered by an Eternal of Days. We will visit each of the billion worlds of Havona. (Got yer travelin’ shoes on?)
Orbiting the Central Universe (Isle of Paradise, its satellites and Havona) are the Seven Super Universes. Here is the composition of a Super Universe:
1. One System-- about 1000 inhabited worlds
2. One Constellation-- 100 systems or about 100,000 worlds
3. One Local Universe-- 100 constellations or about 10,000,000 worlds
4. One Minor Sector-- 100 Local Universes or about 1,000,000,000 worlds
5. One Major Sector-- 100 Minor Sectors or about 100,000,000,000 worlds
6. One Super Universe-- 10 Major Sectors or about 1,000,000,000,000 worlds (Whew!) Only the Father knows exactly how many inhabited worlds there are.
Now for some more particular information:
We live on Urantia (yew RAN shuh) in the solar system of Monmatia (mon MAY shuh). There are three planets in Monmatia that can support life. (I wonder who the other two are. I guess Mars and Venus.)
Our system is called (Don’t freak out! It’s just a name.) Satania (sah TAY nee uh). The capital is Jerusem (juh ROO sem).
Our constellation is called Norlatiadek (nor LASH uh deck). The capital is Edentia (ee DEN shuh).
Our local universe is Nebadon (NEH buh don). Its capital is Salvington. (I don’t think I’ll continue how to pronounce things.)
Our minor sector is Ensa. Capital is U minor the third. (Very sci-fi, no?)
Our major sector is Splandon. (I think that is a funny name.) Capital is U major the fifth.
And finally, our superuniverse, known for love and mercy, is Orvonton. Capital is Uversa.
Urantia is in the boondocks of Nebadon and Nebadon is in the boondocks of Orvonton.

The Spheres of SpaceHere are the Spheres of Space:
1. The suns-- the stars of space. There are suns which shine without heat.
2. The dark islands of space (black holes?)-- These are dead suns and other dark matter devoid of light and heat. They act as a "powerful balance wheel holding large neighboring systems in effective leash."
3. Minor space bodies-- comets, meteors and planetesimals.
4. The planets which include inhabitable worlds.
These first four spheres of space are evolutionary.
5. Architectural spheres-- These are worlds made to order. They include headquarter worlds and their satellites. Jerusem, the capital world of our system of Satania, and its satellites are architectural spheres as is the Central Universe.
We are not "plunging wildly in uncharted space", but are following "the orderly and predetermined path of the superuniverse space level". You have probably heard that we are hurtling away willy nilly from a central point (Big Bang Theory). The Urantia Book explains a thing called space respiration. Imagine an hourglass with the Universe of Universes at the waist. This is called "pervaded space". The rest is "unpervaded space". As pervaded space expands unpervaded space contracts. We are in the middle of a two billion year (Urantia time) cycle. One billion out--One billion in.

Who’s WhoPresiding over our planet, Urantia, is a Planetary Prince. Our first Planetary Prince was "Caligastia". He fell into rebellion. At this time our Planetary Prince is "Michael", but since he is also ruling our local universe of Nebadon, a Melchizadek, called "Machiventa", is acting as vicegerent.
Our System (Satania) Sovereign was (Here it comes.) "Lucifer". He fell into rebellion. Now our system is ruled by "Lanaforge", a rebellion tested Lanonandek Son.
Our constellation, Norlatiadek, is presided over by three Most Highs. I don’t know their names. One of them takes a leadership position every 50,000 years. That’s why you hear of God the Most High in the Bible.
Our local universe, Nebadon, is ruled by a Creator Son of the Order of Michael. (Michael means "who is like God".) We call him "Michael" or "Christ Michael". Michael manifested himself on Urantia as the Son of Man, our beloved Jesus. The Archangel Michael in the Bible is really Michael of Nebadon. In the Book of Daniel, Michael is mentioned as "a great prince who stands up for the children of your people". In the Book of Revelation during the "war in heaven" he defeats Satan.
Our minor sector, Ensa, is ruled by three Recents of Days. Don’t know their names either. The Urantia Book explains that some names are untranslatable.
Our major sector, Splandon, is ruled by three Perfections of Days.
Our superuniverse, Orvonton, is ruled by three Ancients of Days. These rulers are particularly interesting. "In all the vast universe of universes they are invested with the high powers of final executive judgment concerning the eternal extinction of will creatures." They are the judges. "That which mercy cannot rehabilitate justice will eventually annihilate." (Whoa.) That person becomes as if s/he had never been. However, anything of survival value lives on in the Supreme Being. (More about the Supreme Being later.) Interesting note: That person being "annihilated" has to agree to it! This is how good our God is.
Overseeing each of the seven superuniverses is a Master Spirit.
The Father, Son and Spirit preside over the Central Universe.

Michael Sons and Creative Mother SpiritsParadise Creator Sons of the Order of Michael are the offspring of the Father and the "Original Mother" Son. Each one is individual and has his own personality. Each is the "only-begotten Son".
When a Creator Son is born a compliment to him, a daughter of the Infinite Spirit, is born. She is called a Creative Mother Spirit, aka Divine Minister. She is the "actual and effective helper" to Michael. She provides the vital spark of life.
In our local universe Michael is our creator father and the Mother Spirit is our creative mother. They are essentially equal. It is my belief that the sometime appearances of Mary (Jesus’ mother) are really the Creative Mother Spirit. (Or they could be mass hysteria.)
Creator Sons get to choose the site and create their own local universe. At first they rule as vicegerents of the Father. In order to rule in his own right a Michael Son must incarnate seven times as various orders of beings-- the last and lowest being as one of us. Creator Sons are also known as Descending Sons since they start out as perfect beings and become lowly (like us).
We are known as Ascending Sons since we start out lowly and eventually become perfected spirits. We are also known as pilgrims of time. When we reach Paradise we become members of the Mortal Corps of the Finality and are known as "finaliters". What do finaliters do? Don’t know for sure yet. Some Urantia Book writers think that we may have something to do with the outer space levels.
"To our universe" (Nebadon) "and all its inhabited worlds the Sovereign Son is, to all practical intents and purposes, God." While it is not incorrect to worship Jesus, The Urantia Book says we only really worship the Father. Yes, there are around 700,000 Creator Sons and Creative Mother Spirits, but why wouldn’t there be?

Gabriel
Gabriel is the offspring of Michael and the Creative Mother Sprit. He’s called a Bright and Morning Star and there is only one of him for our local universe. He is the CEO of Nebadon. He is not an angel.

Our Dual Nature"In every mortal there exists a dual nature: the inheritance of animal tendencies and the high urge of spirit endowment." "There is a conspiracy of spirit forces, a confederation of divine powers within us that are working to liberate us from material bondage." "The spirit never drives, only leads." "The fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, long-suffering," (patience) "gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness," (obedience to God) "and temperance."
We Urantians are suffering a double deprivation of help in the task of planetary spiritual attainment due to the Caligastia upheaval which caused world wide confusion and robbed us of the moral assistance which a well-ordered society would have provided; and the Adamic default that would have provided us with a superior physical nature which would be more in tune with spiritual aspirations. However, we still have the Adjuster, the Father fragment, and the Spirit of Truth from Jesus to lead the way.

A Couple of Random Quotes"The entire universe is one vast school."
"The keys to the kingdom of heaven are: sincerity, more sincerity, and more sincerity." "The highest moral choice is the choice of the highest possible value, and always-- in any sphere, in all of them --this is to choose to do the will of God."

AngelsSeraphim (angels) are daughters of the Creative Mother spirit. They are a little higher than us spiritually. They share all our non-sensuous emotions. They are ministering spirits.
Angels don’t have wings. Some humans have been permitted to see angels that were preparing for transport service. There may be seen what are apparently double sets of wings extending from head to foot of the angel. They are friction shields.

Mortal Survival"As to chances of mortal survival, let it be made forever clear: All souls of every possible phase of mortal existence will survive provided they manifest willingness to co-operate with their indwelling Adjusters and exhibit a desire to find God and to attain divine perfection, even though these desires be but the faint flickers of the primitive comprehension of that ‘true light which lights every man who comes into the world’".

Child RearingEverybody must experience child rearing. If a mortal has not experienced this on Urantia then they serve as child care helpers in the probationary nurseries on Satania. Or they may live with an Adam and Eve and their children on Jerusem. Adams and Eves are known as Material Sons. They are the only sex folks that exist after native planets. (There is no sex for us in heaven, so get it while you can.)

HeavenWhen we die we will continue our Paradise journey on the Mansion Worlds. Satania has a capital world, Jerusem. Jerusem has seven satellites and each satellite has seven sub satellites. The Mansion Worlds are the sub satellites of the first Jerusem satellite.
The Mansion Worlds are detention and teaching spheres. This is not as bad as it sounds. If you haven’t fused with your Adjuster on Urantia-- a very rare occurrence since we haven’t reached the age of light and life-- then you have to be rehabilitated. Deficiencies are corrected on the first Mansion World.
After the Mansion Worlds we "pilgrims of time" continue progressing inward, from system, to constellation, to local universe, etc., until we reach Paradise.
Jesus said, "In my Father’s Universe are many mansions . . ." . He was being literal.

The Number SevenThe number seven is prominent in The Urantia Book papers. This is because there are seven expressive combinations of God:
1. The Father
2. The Son
3. The Spirit
4. The Father and Son
5. The Father and Spirit
6. The Son and Spirit
7. The Father, Son and Spirit
Our super universe, Orvonton, the youngest of the seven super universes, is reflective of the Father, Son, and Spirit. The first super universe is reflective of the Father, the second the Son and so on.

Jerusem InfoHere is some information about Jerusem, our system capital:
The Satania day is three days Urantia time less one hour, four minutes and fifteen seconds.
There are no days or nights on Jerusem, but full light where the temperature is maintained at about 70 degrees, and light recession where the temperature drops to less than 50 degrees. (Git yer robes on.)
There are no seasons. Most of the Mansion world buildings are roofless since the weather is so good.
Light just sifts out of the sky from all directions so I assume there are no shadows.
Rain is nonexistent but there are thousands upon thousands of small lakes, but no raging rivers or rugged mountains. However, there are highlands. Mount Seraf is nearly fifteen thousand feet and is the point of departure for all transport seraphim. (Mt. Everest is 29,029 ft.) "Transports arrive on the crystal field, the so-called ‘sea of glass’."
There are many gates which consist of single pearly crystals. (The pearly gates!) There are buildings constructed wholly of crystal gems. "All the architectural worlds abound in crystals and the so-called precious metals."
There are interesting creatures called Spornagia. They are beautiful animals. They live 40 to 50 thousand years and are the only ones in all of Nebadon who experience reincarnation. (Sorry, Dalai Lama.)
When we get to the Mansion Worlds we will be given morontia (an unfortunate word-- so like moron.) bodies. (Jesus returned to Urantia in his morontia body three days after his death. That is why he wasn’t recognized at first. The Adjusters, the God within, recognize each other.) We will continue to eat, drink and rest in this form. Food and drink are fully utilized by this new body. There is no "residual waste". (There are no potties in Heaven.) Morontia bodies are the link between being material and being spirit.
From sphere to sphere we grow less material , more intellectual and slightly more spiritual. By the sixth Mansion world we will have perfect fusion of our minds with our divine Adjusters. We get a new name.
Here are a couple of morontia mota found on pages 556 and 557:
"The greatest affliction of the cosmos is never to have been afflicted. Mortals only learn wisdom by experiencing tribulation."
"Anxiety must be abandoned. The disappointments hardest to bear are those which never come." (Don’t worry. Be happy.)


I’m Putting Power Directors Here for No Particular ReasonThe Universe Power Directors and their vast retinue manipulate energy. They are created in perfection. Physical controllers never play. They are businesslike in all their dealings and are always on duty. They are the daughters of the Infinite Spirit.

The Seven HeavensYou may have heard of being in "seventh heaven"? The first heaven is the sevenfold mansion world experience. The second is Jerusem (system capital). The third is Edentia (constellation capital) and its satellites. The fourth is Salvington (local universe capital) and its satellites. The fifth is Uversa (superuniverse capital). The sixth is Havona (the billion worlds orbiting Paradise) and the seventh is Paradise.

Progressive Civilization1. The nutrition epoch-- Primitive man is concerned with food problems. We’re either seeking food or fighting.
2. The security age-- Much attention is devoted to the technique of war. Clans are solidified by mutual fear and hate of foreign groups.
3. The material-comfort age-- After food and security have been mainly attained, leisure is utilized to promote personal comfort. Too often this age is characterized by "tyranny, intolerance, gluttony, and drunkenness". Weaker elements incline toward excesses and brutality. Gradually these weaklings are subjugated by the more strong and truth-loving elements of the advancing civilization.
4. The quest for knowledge and wisdom-- This age is characterized by culture and the quest for knowledge. Every child is provided the opportunity to learn. Education is the watchword.
5. The epoch of philosophy and brotherhood-- The society becomes ethical. Human brotherhood is capable of being established. The golden rule is the watchword for this age.
6. The age of spiritual striving-- "Religion is completing the ascent from the emotional domains of fear and superstition to the high levels of cosmic wisdom and personal spiritual experience."
7. The era of light and life-- Human accomplishments are now blended, associated, and co-ordinate in cosmic unity and unselfish service. There is one race, one world government, and one religion.

The Lucifer Rebellion
"Lucifer" (our former System Sovereign) "was a brilliant primary Lanonandek Son of Nebadon." He was known for wisdom, sagacity and efficiency, but "there must have been a pride of self". (Remember, pride is the worst of the seven deadly sins because it leads to deception-- lack of sincerity-- even to self deception.) His first lieutenant, Satan, was assigned to Urantia to advocate Lucifer’s cause. The "devil", Caligastia, is the deposed Planetary Prince of Urantia. Beelzebub was the leader of the disloyal midwayers. (Midwayers are Urantia natives who are midway between us and the Material Sons-- the Adams and Eves and angels. They are usually invisible to humans.) All this time I thought Lucifer, Satan, and Beelzebub were the same person.
The "Lucifer Declaration of Liberty" was stated under three heads:
1. Lucifer charged that the Universal Father did not exist. "He traded on reverence as ignorance."
2. He protested Michael’s (ruler of our local universe) right to rule in the name of the Father. He attacked the right of the Ancients of Days (rulers of our superuniverse) to interfere in the affairs of the local systems and universes.
3. Lucifer maintained that too much time and energy was extended in the thorough training of ascending mortals (us) in the principles of universe administration. "He advocated that ascenders should enjoy the liberty of individual self-determination." (Sound tempting?)
Upon the outbreak of the Satania rebellion, about 200,000 years ago, Michael took counsel with his elder Paradise brother, Immanuel. Following this conference, Michael announced that he would pursue the same policy that had characterized his dealings with the two prior similar upheavals -- an attitude of non interference.
"Thirty-seven seceding Planetary Princes swung their world administrations largely to the side of the arch rebel."
Gabriel assumed command of the loyal hosts of Satania and established himself on the sphere of the Father. He displayed the banner of Michael, the three azure blue concentric circles on a white background-- the material emblem of the Trinity government of all creation. "The Lucifer emblem was a banner of white with one red circle in the center of which a black solid circle appeared."
The dragon was also associated with the Lucifer rebellion. "There was a war in heaven; Michael’s commander and his angels fought against the dragon . . . and the dragon and his rebellious angels fought but prevailed not."
This was not a physical battle but it was far more deadly-- the war in heaven was fought in terms of life eternal. It was about two years system time before Lanaforge became installed as Lucifer’s successor. For several years all was chaos as folks chose sides.
The bestowal of Michael on Urantia terminated the rebellion except on the planets of the apostate Planetary Princes. Caligastia is still free "to prosecute his nefarious designs" but he has absolutely no power to enter men’s minds nor can he "draw near to their souls to tempt or corrupt them unless they really desire to be cursed with his wicked presence".
Apparently we are in a unsettled state here on Urantia. We are still choosing between good and evil and because of free will are free to do so.
"But even so, no fallen spirit ever did have the power to invade the minds or to harass the souls of the children of God." "Faith is an effective armor against sin and iniquity." "Caligastia has been comparatively impotent since the cross of Christ."
At this time Lucifer and Satan are detained on the Jerusem prison worlds. They rejected Michael’s mercy, though thousands of angels and hundreds of lower celestials have accepted mercy. The higher celestials did not rebel.
"The rebellion has ended on Jerusem. . . We believe that all rebels who will ever accept mercy have done so. We await the flashing broadcast that will deprive these traitors of personality existence." The removal of present Satania restrictions await the final disposition of the arch rebels by the Ancients of Days.
Why do we have to wait so long for the adjudication of Gabriel vs. Lucifer? The Urantia Book gives the wisdom of delay in 12 points on pages 617 and 618. A couple of them are:
1. The Father’s love is dominant in supreme justice. Time to accept salvation is given to every evildoer.
2. Time is relative.
Our disordered planet is in quarantine because of the Lucifer rebellion. However, there are rewards to isolation. There is a unique opportunity for the exercise of faith and "for the development of a peculiar quality of confidence in cosmic reliability which is not dependent on sight or any other material consideration". "Agondonters", folks who believe without seeing, persevere when isolated, and triumph over insuperable difficulties, are "very early entrusted with numerous special assignments to cosmic undertakings where unquestioned faith and sublime confidence are essential to achievement".
Although they (the celestials) never say it, my belief is that we are the worst world in all of Nebadon. BUT, I believe, because of this, Michael chose our planet out of millions to incarnate as the Son of Man his terminal bestowal before he was given full sovereignty over Nebadon, our local universe. (Note: Every evolving world gets a bestowal of a Paradise Son. They are called Avonal Sons. But it is a particular honor to have the Creator of one‘s universe to choose that world in which to incarnate.)

Some History of UrantiaWe started out as the Andronover nebula about 875,000,000,000 years ago.
About 4,500,000,000 years ago our solar system of Monmatia started to form.
About 1,000,000,000 years ago our planet was formed at its approximate size and was registered in Nebadon as Urantia.
About 550,000,000 years ago the Life Carriers brought no life to Urantia, an experimental planet, but formulated life right here. (Thanks for the dinosaurs, guys.) Life implantations were in three hospitable seas-- the central or Eurasian-African, the eastern or Australasian, and the western embracing Greenland and the Americas.
About 210,000,000 years ago land animals abruptly appeared. These were air breathing amphibians.
About 50,000,000 years ago the first mammals suddenly appeared.
About 1,000,000 years ago Urantia was registered as an inhabited world. A mutation within the stock of progressing Primates living in Mesopotamia (Iraq) suddenly produced two primitive human beings, the actual ancestors of mankind.

Andon and Fonta--
Andon fastened a sharp piece of flint to the end of a club using animal tendons and made use of this weapon defending himself and his sister.
They decided to flee from their primates tribe recognizing they were more than mere animals. They went north from mid Mesopotamia (Iraq).
On their flight they discovered they could make fire using flint and a bird’s nest that Fonta found. It took them awhile to discover that they could use dry moss and other kindling to make fire.
Andon and Fonta had nineteen children, almost 50 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren during their lifetimes. They died at the age of 42 in an earthquake when a rock shelter fell on them.
The Andonites, the first race, had black eyes and a swarthy complexion. They most nearly resembled the present day Eskimos. Animal sacrifice started with the Andonites.
The Andonites migrated north into Europe and a little way into Asia. The more intelligent didn’t migrate south because they wanted to avoid their hairy tree dwelling cousins.
Andon and Fonta fused with their Adjusters on Jerusem. They got permission to return to the first mansion world where they greet the pilgrims of time from Urantia.

The Evolutionary Races of Color--
"Man is the descendant of fighting animals, and when closely associated, uncultured people irritate and offend each other. The Life Carriers know this tendency among evolutionary creatures and accordingly make provisions for the eventual separation of developing human beings into at least three, and more often six, distinct and separate races." Urantia is unusual in that the six colored races appeared at the same time. Usually one race appears then is overtaken by a succeeding race until all people are of one blended race.
1. The red race was the first of the Sangik children to develop a tribal civilization and government. They went en masse to North America over the Bering land isthmus which later sank. A combined race of orange and blue accompanied the red race and later migrated to Mexico and South America.
2. The orange race had a peculiar urge to build-- even seeing which tribe could build the largest mound. They migrated south to Africa but were later wiped out by the arriving green race.
3. The yellow race was the first to establish settled communities and develop agriculture. The yellow races have survived in such numbers due to their intertribal peacefulness. The yellow race was the first to give up the chase and settled in Asia. The brown men of Asian peninsulas and islands are a combination of the yellow and red races.
4. The green race carried strains of the giant order-- leaders being eight or nine feet tall. This race was absorbed by the yellow, blue and indigo races.
5. The blue race invented the spear and worked out the rudiments of the arts of modern civilization. The Adamic descendents (the violet race) preferred them to all of the later persisting colored races. The blue race migrated to Europe. The blue race has persisted as the white race first being modified by slight mixture with yellow and red and up-stepped by the violet race.

The red, green and orange races virtually destroyed themselves before they were all but annihilated by their enemies of other races.
There are no pure races in the world today, but there are basically three races-- the yellow, the indigo, and the white.

The Planetary Prince of Urantia--
A group of rematerialized members of the Prince’s staff were 50 men and 50 women ascending sons. (Remember, we’re known as ascending sons.) They had not yet fused with their Adjusters. They each came from a different planet other than Urantia. They were referred to as "the Caligastia 100". Their Adjusters were detached. (I don’t know why.)
The Life Carriers received permission to implant the life plasm of 50 males and 50 females of the more intelligent posterity of Andon and Fonta into the Caligastia 100. This action gave origin to the numerous legends which later became confused with the later traditions of the installation of Adam and Eve. (Adam’s rib?)
These Jerusem citizens established the city of Dalmatia in present day Iraq (Mesopotamia). At that time it was at the center of civilization since the Sangik races were just being born at the time of the arrival of the Planetary Prince about 500,000 years ago.
The Caligastia 100 divided into 10 commissions to teach the Urantia natives:
1. The council on food and material welfare-- They taught well digging, spring control, irrigation, food storage, drying and smoking food, and for those who lived in colder climates treating skins for clothing.
2. The board of animal domestication and utilization-- The cow was bred. The wheel was developed. Oxen were used as beasts of burden.
3. The advisors regarding the conquest of predatory animals-- City walls were introduced to protect citizens from wild animals.
4. The faculty on dissemination and conservation of knowledge-- The first alphabet was introduced.
5. The commission on industry and trade-- The leader of this group was "Nod". (Remember him.) Primitive manufacture of goods and trade was introduced.
6. The college of revealed religion-- Creator fear (awe) was to replace creature fear (animal worship).
7. The guardians of health and life-- Sanitation and hygiene were introduced. Cooking, boiling and roasting as a means to avoid sickness was taught. Hand shaking was taught to replace saliva/blood exchange.
8. The planetary council on art and science. Rudiments of physics and chemistry were taught. Pottery was advanced along with decorative arts.
9. The governors of advanced tribal relations-- Courtship and marriage, after due deliberation and the opportunity to become acquainted, was fostered.
10. The supreme court of tribal co-ordination and racial co-operation-- The leader was Van and his native assistant was Amadon. (Remember them.) This group was entrusted with matters not specifically assigned to the other groups.
Here are the seven commandments that were taught as "The Father‘s Way:
1. You shall not fear nor serve any God but the Father of all.
2. You shall not disobey the Father’s Son, the world’s ruler, nor show disrespect to his superhuman associates.
3. You shall not speak a lie when called before the judges of the people.
4. You shall not kill men, women, or children.
5. You shall not steal your neighbor’s goods or cattle.
6. You shall not touch your friend’s wife.
7. You shall not show disrespect to your parents or to the elders of the tribe.
The Prince’s staff and the 100 modified Andonites who had donated life plasm were kept alive indefinitely by the fruit of a shrub from Edentia (constellation capital)-- the tree of life. The Prince’s staff was vegetarian.
For about 300,000 years the plan of uplifting the Urantia natives went apace not withstanding the humans’ slavery to tradition.

Midwayers-- At one point two of the Caligastia 100 had a nonsexual union which produced the first of the Primary Midwayers. The midwayers were invisible to humans. Fifty thousand of these beings were produced by the Caligastia 100 upon Caligastia’s direction. These midwayers were helpful in "carrying on the affairs of the world’s headquarters". Humans were taught the existence of these "unseen semi-spirits".
Then about 200,000 years ago Caligastia fell into rebellion. He took his staff and 60 of the Caligastia 100 with him into rebellion among others. He was declared the God of Urantia. Suddenly and without warning the system circuits were severed. Urantia was isolated without recourse to outside council or advice. Great confusion reigned. "Liberty was quickly translated into license by the half-evolved primitive men of those days." Over the millenniums much of the Dalmatia teaching was lost.
The rebellious 60 super humans and 40 Andonite associates chose Nod (Remember him?) as their leader. They migrated to the north and to the east. The myths of gods (the superhumans) mating with the daughters of men comes from this time period. The tree of life was denied them so they eventually died. Their descendents were called Nodites, the eighth race. (Remember Cain went to the Land of Nod after he killed Abel.) I wonder if they were later known as the Nephilim. "Nephilim" comes from the Hebrew root "N-F-L meaning "to fall". They were the fallen ones.
The 40 remaining super-humans of the 100 and 144 Andonite associates remained loyal. Van was their leader and Amadon was his native associate. They withdrew to the highlands west of India where they planned for the rehabilitation of the world. They were known as Amadonites. (I don’t believe the loyal 40 mated with their native associates.)
Van and Amadon, a modified native, were sustained by the tree of life which had been transplanted to their new land. They were both translated shortly after the arrival of Adam and Eve about 40,000 years ago. The other loyal 39 of the 100 were transferred to Jerusem just a few years after the rebellion started. They are continuing their Paradise journey.
Dalmatia was struck by a tidal wave and sank beneath the waters 162 years after the beginning of the rebellion. No one but the lower Sangik races were living there at the time. (Could this be the basis of the Atlantis legend?) This land later rose again, but all traces of Dalmatia were obliterated.

The Garden of Eden--
The "tree of knowledge of good and evil" is a figure of speech, but the "tree of life" was real. It was transplanted to the middle of the Garden in the "unseen Father‘s" temple. The fruit of the Tree of Life was beneficial only to the Prince’s staff, the Caligastia 100, and the modified Urantia natives. When the Adamic default occurred the Tree of Life was left in the Garden. The peninsula later sank into the ocean over a period of several hundred years. (Could this be the basis of the Atlantis legend?)

Adam and Eve--
The human race had progressed genetically about as far as it could go. Material Sons are sent to "upstep" the natives and to provide leadership. Adam tried to teach the natives about the equality of men and women.
Adam and Eve had remained loyal to Michael during the Lucifer rebellion. They were examined and instructed by the system sovereign, Lanaforge, and his entire cabinet. "The details of Urantia affairs were fully presented; they were exhaustively instructed as to the plans to be pursued in accepting the responsibilities of rulership on such a strife torn world."
For six days Adam and Eve examined the Garden. Once, now long extinct, were large passenger birds, called "fandors", that could carry one or two men up to 500 miles. Adam and Eve used these fandors to examine the Garden by air. By the seventh day the Urantia natives were so enthralled with the pair that they wanted to proclaim them gods and were ready to fall down and worship them.
Adam made clear that only the Father and those whom he designates may be worshiped. He then told them to go and worship the Father at the Father’s Temple. Thus began the Sabbath-day tradition.
Halos-- The bodies of Adam and Eve gave forth a shimmer of light. This was most noticeable at night when they were robed and their heads shone. During the day they wore very little.
Adam and Eve and their progeny were to reproduce until their numbers reached 500,000 before they started mating with Urantia natives. They were the violet race, the Adamites-- the ninth race.
"The practice of some subsequent nations of permitting the royal families, supposedly descended from the gods, to marry brother to sister, dates from the traditions of the Adamic offspring-- mating, as needs must, with one another." The violet race had blue eyes, blond, red, or brown hair, and fair skin.
Caligastia freely visited the Garden and tried to enlist Adam and Eve in rebellion. Adam resisted but Caligastia found that Eve was vulnerable to a wily flank attack. Here’s what happened:
Eve became friends with Serapatatia, the leader of a friendly Nodite tribe. Over a period of five years Serapatatia talked with Eve about how great it would be if a leader of the Nodite race could be born with violet race ancestry. (Serapatatia was, unbeknownst to him, being influenced by Caligastia.) He introduced her to the handsome Cano. Eve succumbed. She became pregnant with Cain by Cano.
Adam and Eve had been repeatedly warned to resist Caligastia and not to combine good and evil or they would surely die. Adam realized that Eve would die and he couldn’t face the future without her since he loved her so much. He decided to share Eve’s fate and so he mated with Laotta (an ancestor of Mary, Jesus’ mother), a brilliant Nodite woman.
Adam and Eve didn’t stick with the plan-- they mated with the natives. Their transgressions resulted in the Adamic default. Solonia, an angel, the "voice in the Garden", informed them of their default.
When the Garden inhabitants learned of what happened to Eve they declared war on the Nodites and slaughtered every one of the nearby tribe. Cano was killed and Serapatatia committed suicide by jumping in a river. Then the other Nodites declared war on the Adamites and rather than fight, Adam decided that they would leave the Garden. The Tree of Life was left there.
One third of Adam and Eve’s adult children elected to stay with them on Urantia. The rest of the children were transferred to Edentia, the constellation capital.
The Adamites settled into the second Garden in Mesopotamia (Iraq) between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers.
Abel, the next born child of Adam and Eve, was the younger half-brother of Cain. Abel often taunted Cain about his tainted heritage among other things. Cain being part Nodite and volatile turned on Abel and killed him when he couldn’t take it any longer.
Adam and Eve encouraged Cain in his decision to leave the second Garden. He went east to the land of Nod where he became a great leader. These Nodites started the Mother cult. This Mother cult survives as the veneration of Mary in the Catholic religion.
In the second Garden herbs, vegetables and meat were introduced into the diet, but Adam and Eve and their oldest progeny remained vegetarians.
The highest type of women of different races, but mainly the Nodite race, were selected to be implanted with the Adamic life plasm. This race became the Andite race, the 10^{th race.

Do we need a race recap? Okay:
1. The Andonites-- progeny of the first humans, Andon and Fonta
2-7. The Sangik races-- red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and indigo
8. The Nodites-- progeny of the superhumans from Jerusem and the native Urantia races
9. The Adamites, the violet race-- the pure line progeny of Adam and Eve
10. The Andites-- the Adamites and the Nodites.
Now we have basically three races-- yellow, black, and white.
Adam lived for 530 years and died of old age. Eve died nineteen years earlier of a weakened heart. But before they died they received a message from Michael which said among other things: "I have given consideration to the circumstances of your default, I have remembered the desire of your hearts ever to be loyal to my Father’s will, and you will be called from the embrace of mortal slumber when I come to Urantia . . ." And so they always proclaimed that a Son of God would sometime come. This was the beginning of the Messiah expectation.
Adam and Eve are now considered as Material ascending sons and are presently serving as members of the 24 counselors on the Board of Planetary Supervisors.

More Midwayers--
Older writers designated these creatures as evil spirits, demons and evil angels. Prior to the coming of Christ they could and did influence the minds and control the actions of certain inferior mortals. Jesus knew and recognized the difference between insanity and demonical possession. These rebel midwayers are now held prisoner.
The loyal midwayers number 10,992. Midwayers are spiritually between us and the angelic orders. They act as companions and guides for celestial visitors and minister, in their own way, to humans. It was a midwayer who freed the apostle Peter when he was in prison. Midwayers are, at this time, the permanent citizens of Urantia.

The Flood--
But Noah was real. He was a wine merchant of Aram, a river settlement near Erech. He kept records of the river’s rise from year to year. He advised that all houses be built of wood, boat fashion, and that the family animals be brought on board each night as the flood season approached. Finally a year came when the annual floods were augmented by an unusually heavy rainfall. The sudden rise in water wiped out the entire village, except Noah and his immediate family who were saved in their houseboat.

Thor--

Machiventa Melchizedek--
Machiventa was bestowed upon Urantia 1,973 years before the birth of Jesus (7 BCE). He incarnated in the vicinity of Salem-- later known as Jebus and still later as Jerusalem.
For 30 years he stayed with the family of Katro, an ancestor of Moses, while teaching the Salem religion.
The Salem ceremonies were very simple. Followers subscribed to the following beliefs:
"1. I believe in El Elyon, the Most High God, the only Universal Father and Creator of all things.
2. I accept the Melchizedek covenant with the Most High, which bestows the favor of God on my faith, not on sacrifices and burnt offerings.
3. I promise to obey the seven commandments of Melchizedek and to tell the good news of this covenant with the Most High to all men."
The seven commandments promulgated by Machiventa were patterned along the lines of the ancient Dalmatian supreme law and resembled the seven commands taught in the first and second Edens. They were:
"1. You shall not serve any God but the Most High Creator of heaven and earth.
2. You shall not doubt that faith is the only requirement for eternal salvation.
3. You shall not bear false witness.
4. You shall not kill.
5. You shall not steal.
6. You shall not commit adultery.
7. You shall not show disrespect for your parents and elders."
Machiventa tried to introduce a sacrament of bread and wine to replace the older sacrifice of flesh and blood, but it didn’t catch on.
Machiventa taught elementary revealed truth at Salem for 94 years. Abraham attended the Salem school and became a convert. He was one of the most brilliant pupils and chief supporters.
"Although it may be an error to speak of ‘chosen people’, it is not a mistake to refer to Abraham as a chosen individual. Melchizedek did lay upon Abraham the responsibility of keeping alive the truth of one God as distinguished from the prevailing belief in plural deities."
Salem missionaries penetrated all Europe, even the British Isles, Iceland, China, and Japan. But the original Melchizedek gospel had been almost wholly absorbed in the beliefs in the Great Mother, the Sun, and other ancient cults.
Machiventa had a Personalized Thought Adjuster which later served as the Adjuster of the human Jesus. This was the only time that a Thought Adjuster served twice on this planet. From what I can tell, a Personalized Thought Adjuster serves temporarily and does not fuse with its subject. But I may be wrong about this.
Machiventa Melchizedek left his bestowal as unceremoniously as he appeared. He is now acting as vicegerent Planetary Prince of Urantia for Christ Michael.

Why You’ll Probably Never See The Urantia Book as an Organized Religion

Urantia Book readers usually gather in small study groups.

Moses--
"No leader ever undertook to reform and uplift a more forlorn, downcast, dejected, and ignorant group of human beings. But these slaves carried latent possibilities in their hereditary strains."
Moses and his brother, Aaron, negotiated with the Egyptian king to allow the slaves to leave the valley of the Nile for the Arabian desert. They were to be paid a modest sum and given goods in token of their long service in Egypt. But the king reneged. He said that his spies had discovered disloyalty among the slaves and that they were really going into the desert to organize the nomad tribes against Egypt.
Moses bided his time. Within a year the Egyptian army was fully occupied resisting a Libyan thrust from the south and a Greek naval invasion from the north.
The dash for freedom was carefully planned and skillfully executed. Pharaoh and a small body of Egyptians pursued them, but they all fell before the fugitives’ defense. The escaped slaves got much booty, and the advancing host augmented this by looting as they marched to their ancestral desert home.
Moses tried to teach the Melchizedek concept of God as El Elyon (Most High) but the Hebrews’ concept of God was more in line with the worship of Yahweh, a Semite nature god associated with the Sinai volcano, Mount Horeb. Yahweh’s symbol was a golden calf.
The ten commandments, which Moses promulgated in the name of Yahweh, were received while the Hebrews tarried before the holy mountain of Sinai. The Urantia Book does not list the ten commandments, but here they are from the Tanakh, the Jewish Bible:
1. "I the LORD am your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, the house of bondage: You shall have no other gods beside Me."
2. "You shall not make for yourself a sculptured image, any likeness of what is in the heavens above, or on the earth below, or in the waters below the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them. For I the LORD your God am an impassioned God, visiting the guilt of the parents upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generations of those who reject Me, but showing kindness to the thousandth generation of those who love Me and keep My commandments."
3. "You shall not swear falsely by the name of the LORD your God; for the LORD will not clear one who swears falsely by His name."
4. "Observe the Sabbath day and keep it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the LORD your God; you shall not do any work--you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your ox or your ass, or any of your cattle, or the stranger in your settlements, so that your male and female slave may rest as you do. Remember that your were a slave in the land of Egypt and the LORD your God freed you from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm; therefore the LORD your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day."
5. "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may long endure, and that you may fare well, in the land that the LORD your God is assigning to you."
6. "You shall not commit murder."
7. "You shall not commit adultery."
8. "You shall not steal."
9. "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor."
10. "You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. You shall not crave your neighbor’s house, or his field, or his male or female slave, or his ox, or his ass, or anything that is your neighbor’s."
Moses had a tough time teaching the Hebrews about God. It looks like he taught them about an angry, vengeful, jealous God more to keep them in line than anything else. Moses is now one of the twenty-four counselors of the Board of Planetary Supervisors.

Spiritual Faith"Genuine spiritual faith (true moral consciousness) is revealed in that it:
1. Causes ethics and morals to progress despite inherent and adverse animalistic tendencies.
2. Produces a sublime trust in the goodness of God even in the face of bitter disappointment and crushing defeat.
3. Generates profound courage and confidence despite natural adversity and physical calamity.
4. Exhibits inexplicable poise and sustaining tranquility not withstanding baffling diseases and even acute physical suffering.
5. Maintains a mysterious poise and composure of personality in the face of maltreatment and the rankest injustice.
6. Maintains a divine trust in ultimate victory in spite of the cruelties of seemingly blind fate and the apparent utter indifference of natural forces to human welfare.
7. Persists in the unswerving belief in God despite all contrary demonstrations of logic and successfully withstands all other intellectual sophistries.
8. Continues to exhibit undaunted faith in the soul’s survival regardless of the deceptive teachings of false science and the persuasive delusions of unsound philosophy.
9. Lives and triumphs irrespective of the crushing overload of the complex and partial civilizations of modern times.
10. Contributes to the continued survival of altruism in spite of human selfishness, social antagonisms, industrial greed, and political maladjustments.
11. Steadfastly adheres to a sublime belief in universe unity and divine guidance regardless of the perplexing presence of evil and sin.
12. Goes right on worshiping God in spite of anything and everything. Dares to declare, ‘Even though he slays me, yet will I serve him’."

Thought AdjustersThe most profound gift of all (to me) is the bestowal of the Thought Adjuster, the Mystery Monitor, by the Universal Father. "They are not created beings; they are fragmentized entities constituting the factual presence of the infinite God." "They are of God and as far as we are able to discern, they are God."New Agers would call the Adjuster their "Higher Power", the Jews "the still small voice", Hindus the "Atman". Jesus was referring to the Adjuster when he said the kingdom of Heaven is within.

"Adjusters reach their human subjects on Urantia, on the average, just prior to the sixth birthday." Moral choice between good and evil indicates wisdom function which proceeds the bestowal of an Adjuster upon a human subject. You have to have a normal functioning mind to get an Adjuster.
We are the captains of our ships, but the Adjuster is the pilot. "The great goal of human existence is to attune to the divinity of the indwelling Adjuster . . ."
The Adjuster resides in the mind. The relationship of the mind and the divine Adjuster evokes the human soul.
"You can consciously augment Adjuster harmony by:
1. Choosing to respond to the divine leading; sincerely basing the human life on the highest consciousness of truth, beauty and goodness . . .
2. Loving God and desiring to be like him . . .
3. Loving man and sincerely desiring to serve him . . .
4. Joyful acceptance of cosmic citizenship . . ."
The Adjuster is not our conscience. The conscience according to The Urantia Book is not "a divine voice speaking to the human soul". "It is merely the sum total of the moral and ethical content of the mores of any current stage of existence . . ." The Adjuster tells us what is really right. It is the divine voice.
One of our goals is fusion with our indwelling Adjuster. This usually happens sometime in our journey through the Mansion Worlds. However, some spiritually advanced Urantia natives do achieve Adjuster fusion while on Urantia. "This fusion during physical life instantly consumes the material body; the human beings who might witness such a spectacle would only observe the translating mortal disappear ‘in chariots of fire’." Enoch in the Bible did this. The study group that I was in called this "flashing out". (Enoch is now one of the 24 counselors of The Board of Planetary Supervisors.)
"Those who go to the mansion worlds are not permitted to send messages back to their loved ones."
After death the more spiritually and cosmically advanced mortals proceed immediately to the mansion worlds. Other mortals may be detained until their affairs are adjudicated. Or, they may be assigned to the ranks of the sleeping survivors who will be repersonalized en masse at the end of the current planetary dispensation. However long or short this sleep may be it seems like an instant.
If a person never got a Thought Adjuster s/he is considered as an animal. (Psychopaths? Sociopaths?) Animals do not progress to the Mansion Worlds. (There are no dogs in heaven. Sorry.) If a child dies before getting an Adjuster they progress to the Probationary Nurseries as long as at least one of the parents survives death.

Guardian AngelsThere are guardian angels. Some of them guard varying groups of people. You get a personal guardian angel when you are a member of the various reserve corps of destiny, or enjoy constant contact with your Adjuster, or when you make the supreme decision, when "there is a real betrothal with the Adjuster". There are really two guardians. They work in pairs each spelling the other. And there are a couple of recording cherubim.
I believe that I have two personal guardian angels. One time when I was "meditating" (Don’t know that it was really meditating. More like being still and going inward for answers.) I discovered their names. They are Allah (I know. I asked, "Are you God?" "No, I am an angel.") and Oz . . . ("Oz? Like the Wizard of Oz?) . . . el. Of course, I could have just imagined it all. The Urantia Book cautions against false religious phenomena. The mind can play tricks. In fact, the book says it’s better to ignore a true religious phenomena than to act on a false one.

The Supreme BeingThe Supreme Being is an evolving, experiential God. His origin is in the Paradise Trinity. "He is the oversoul of the grand universe, the consciousness of the finite cosmos, the completion of finite reality, and the personification of Creator-creature experience." I’ve had it explained to me that we are cells of the Supreme Being. Moses’ mother was of the Egyptian royal family. His father was a Semitic liaison officer between the government and the Bedouin captives. Moses elected to cast his lot with his father’s people despite the enticing lures of the Nile kingdom. And I quote: "It is far better to have a religion without a church than church without religion."
